I get my investment advice from:-

http://www.michaelwalters.com/

also my personal broker BS who will be mentioned quite a bit as we go along. Why only his initials? Well as we are a brand new partnership, he will be protected should his advice be wrong. However he will be named in full, and bathe in the glory if they go up.

My online trading is with http://www.hoodlessbrennan.com/

Yes I have to admit that it has been a bit scarey at the moment, and they have all taken a bit of a dip. I will give a full update a little later.

I also noticed that you have share in TDM (now ENRT) I just read a good write up on them, so have purchased a few grand.

Do let us know how you are getting on with your portfolio.

OK so how are my shares doing? I have to say that over the last couple of months I have been a little reluctant to tell my story. Mainly because it is only human nature to write about success!

Well I have to say that my sharew went the same way as the FTSE, heading south.

The main reason for this I thought was due to the problems in the States with sub-prime lending problems.

I do have a stop loss in place for all my shares, but I felt that this would be a blip, rather than a long term bear market.

So currently my shares are recovering quit well. NOP is proving to be a real star out of all of them. A couple though are still languishing lower than I would like, but maybe in the long term they will prove them selves????

Johnny, I would have to question your holding of MEA under the current sub prime problems that we are having?

Also this market is so volatile just at the moment.

Oh yeah your telling me the market is volatile!!

Having said that though NOP have doubled in value since I purchased them about 3 months ago.

Also ENRT are starting to break new ground for me, so rather glad that I did not sell them during the falls.

I saw a report the other day on NOP, they look as though they are going to fly some more.

Do you think it is worth purchasing Northern Rock shares?

Some people make a lot of money from buying shares in companies whos share price drops when a problem arises.

The only problem with that is knowing when it has hit the bottom.

So the answer is probably yes, but when??

Take a look at the chart - maybe it will still fall?

Or looking at the chart, maybe they have bottomed out?

At the other end of the scale, Northern Rock (LSE: NRK) shares dropped 12.7%, crushed by reports that JC Flowers, the US private equity group, will not compete for the troubled mortgage bank. (At the time of writing, however, it has just been made known that another bidder - the Olivant Group - has unveiled details of its proposed rescue offer).
